Phase Space Tunneling in Multistate Scattering

We prove exponentially small estimates on the oo-diagonal terms of the scattering matrix associated to two-state semiclassical Schrr odinger Hamiltonians. Our method is based on phase space tunneling estimates and a splitting of the operator by means of Toeplitz-type phase space cut-oo operators.

Nonlinear Landau-Zener tunneling in quantum phase space

We present a detailed analysis of the Landau-Zener problem for an interacting Bose-Einstein condensate in a time-varying double-well trap, especially focussing on the relation between the full many-particle problem and the mean-field approximation. Due to the nonlinear self-interaction a dynamical instability occurs, which leads to a breakdown of adiabaticity condition and thus fundamentally al...

Dynamical tunneling in systems with a mixed phase space

Typical dynamical systems have a mixed phase space, in which regions of chaotic motion coexist with regions of regular motion. While classically they are dynamically separated, quantum mechanically, these regions are connected by the fundamental process of tunneling. In this talk we review how to predict dynamical tunneling rates in systems with a mixed phase space by the fictitious integrable ...

3D imaging in volumetric scattering media using phase-space measurements.

We demonstrate the use of phase-space imaging for 3D localization of multiple point sources inside scattering material. The effect of scattering is to spread angular (spatial frequency) information, which can be measured by phase space imaging. We derive a multi-slice forward model for homogenous volumetric scattering, then develop a reconstruction algorithm that exploits sparsity in order to f...

Quantum Theory of Reactive Scattering in Phase Space

We review recent results on quantum reactive scattering from a phase space perspective. The approach uses classical and quantum versions of Poincaré-Birkhoff normal form theory and the perspective of dynamical systems theory. Over the past ten years the classical normal form theory has provided a method for realizing the phase space structures that are responsible for determining reactions in h...
